The Ford Escort Cosworth should have made an unbeatable rally car.
On paper it had everything going for it, the Ford know-how in producing Rally winners and the power required to win. It suffered with problems of grip and mechanical weaknesses and by the time it had morphed into WRC guise it was all a bit too late.
